An Amazing Surprise!
Last week, the night before we were to be set apart, President Clark and I received a phone call that would change our life. Elder Richard Hinckley informed us that our mission assignment had been changed from Alaska to St. Petersburg, Russia. My goodness! What a change! Although the idea of learning Russian in a matter of 1-2 weeks is daunting, we have been blessed with a feeling of great peace, and we have to say that this calling feels right. Although it hasn't even set in yet, we are so anxious to serve in St. Petersburg. We had begun to form warm feelings for the missionaries in Alaska, and will always pray for those elders and sisters. But now we look forward to meeting our new missionaries in Russia. We will arrive in St. Petersburg sometime in July, as soon as visas arrive. We feel blessed to serve in such a choice place.

The Countdown is On!!
President and Sister Clark are anxiously making preparations to arrive in Alaska on June 28th. We have moved out of our home, and are officially living out of suitcases. (just a taste of things to come!) We are enjoying weekly visits to the MTC, where we meet with our Preach My Gospel tutor, Brother Dan Ware. Brother Ware served in Alaska as a missionary 10 years ago, and has a grasp on Alaska geography. He has helped us to create an itinerary for our first week in Alaska. We are very excited to embark on our first mission tour. Our goal is to have an opportunity to meet with all seven zones in the first week. It is an ambitious undertaking, but we are determined to do it! As we go about our business, we are meeting many people with ties to the Alaska Anchorage Mission. All of these little connections are getting us so very anxious to meet everyone in person. The clock is ticking, and the days are fast approaching. I think this just might really happen!
